An Approach to Applying the Ability-Motivation-Opportunity Theory to Identify the Driving Factors of Green Employee Behavior in the Hotel Industry

In the context of climate change and all other harmful effects pollution, companies should improve their environmental performances. As part strategies, explore consequences practices from perspective internal stakeholders must be more attentive to employee behavior. This study’s purpose was identify motives that encourage employees a green hotel adopt pro-environmental behaviors. Qualitative research conducted using semi-structured interviews among three-star Brașov, Romania. uses ability-motivation-opportunity (AMO) theory could lead better understanding Data analysis revealed less than half respondents have proper concept environment only third them are aware caused by people, both at work home. Moreover, most know little measures implemented in order reduce resource consumption, extrinsic motivation being dominant. Consequently, results recommendation managerial team invest employees’ training motivation, creating corporate organizational culture develop behaviors employees.
